Police won't stay at haunted station.

The satellite police station in the bush at Relela, outside Tzaneen, Limpopo, SA, is apparently haunted.

It is located a few metres from a deserted graveyard and cops there flee every night because they want to hide from ghosts.

When the sun goes down all the cops who are working night-shift brave the cold winter weather to patrol the streets – and they stay out all night.

"No one stays in the charge office," said one of the cops.

"We patrol the streets or we sleep in the car. We'll do anything to stay away from this station."

A different officer said she has already been attacked by a ghost at the outside toilet next to the building.

"I went to the toilet and when I came out there was a huge man standing in the shadows. He was [without clothes] except for the cigarette he was smoking.

"I quickly pushed the toilet door shut and screamed for help but when my colleague came, the man was gone. All we could see was smoke and trees moving."

She said she later saw the same tall man running into the bush.

A senior official at the station confirmed what the other cops were saying.

He said that things happened in the middle of the night. He said he even heard drum-beats from the valley followed by the sound of dancing and the cries of young children.

"Then the mist rolls in, the temperature drops and footsteps are heard at the back of the building," he said.

"The neighbours tell us they are tormented by the same ghosts." He said they are not safe at the haunted cop shop.

We need to move to a neutral place where we can find peace and deliver services to the community with confidence," he said.

A villager, Samkay Molewa, said he believes the haunting is because two people were allegedly killed during demonstrations earlier this year.

"The dead men are trying to get revenge," he said.
