North London was about to change forever and for the worse.
The Enfield Poltergeist is one of the best known and best recorded experiences of poltergeist activity and possession, Janet Hodgeson who was only 11 at the time was the main centre of attention and would often speak for hours on end using her false vocal cords (which is believed to be medically impossible) while appearing to be possessed by another entity. When speaking with her false vocal cords Janet said she was "Bill" and that she had died in the house of a brain haemorrhage, Bill continued to posses Janet time and time again and he habitually made jokes and exhibited a very nasty temper.
Here are some of the actual recordings made at the time by Maurice Grosse a member of the Society for Psychical Research who investigated the haunting.
